Some Camera Fun

I went out a played a little with my Nikon d90 and GoPro HD cameras tonight. Came back and the footage looked pretty good. I have a few things to learn but not a bad starting point.

I meant to time lapse the GoPro but i recorded 1080p video. I then sped it up in FCP. All footage was transcoded to ProRes Proxy in Compressor

Music: "Mocoface" - PeopleMover
Lens: 70-300mm and GoPro wide
Cameras: Nikon D90 and GoPro Hero HD

More 8-Bit

I have been so inspired by Addison's 8-bit character design that I have now created this for the Kevin and Bean show.

I don't think I am going to show it to them yet as I might add Doc on the Roq and Producer Alex and I want to make sure credit goes where credit is due.  The character design is just so simple and fun, I am having a ball playing around with different looks, etc.

I would love feedback if you have it!  And be sure to follow Addison's EightBit.me on twitter!  Soon everyone will be able to create these awesome little dudes!

One of my favorite blink videos

and they had nothing to do with it. This was a typography project this kid had to do for a college class. This was the FIRST TIME HE EVER USED AFTER EFFECTS! Blew my mind. This was the first one I saw and I went to watch others to see if they were as good and they all sucked hard. I was blown away by this kid's work and hope blink pick up on it. Also, i LOVE this song. SO underrated!

Enjoy!

WTG Mark Silverman!

One of the stars of "The Undying Monsters!" is the leading Rod Serling VO talent in the world and did this for KTLA's Thanksgiving marathon. You may have also heard him while dropping into a seedy hotel in the dark side of Hollywood...

you know how i know YOU'RE gay?

you're suing Coldplay over the world's most simple chord progression ever. Seriously, people? Think of "Dammit" by Blink 182. I mention this as the root song as Blink is my favorite band but that chord progression has been used in almost every green day song, Blink song, Sum 41 song... think of a Pop Punk band who HASN'T used that progression. I think SONGS are copyrightable and I think LYRICS are as well, but CHORD progressions might as well be intellectual property. I didn't pay much attention to the original case against Coldplay because i couldn't care less, but now Cat Stevens "needs a quick buck" as i read in a youtube.com comment today, and i agree! a SLIGHT resemblance to a song that came out and sucked 36 years ago does not a case make.

Here's the thing... Coldplay don't NEED to copy anyone. I think they're a great band... and because of this shit, i gave "Viva la Vida..." another listen last night and it's a REALLY good record.. .which is weird because i hated it when it first came out. Anyway, stuff like this pisses me off. They are so successful, there is no reason they would sit around listening to some shitty tunes and say, "hey, you know what? I like this riff... let's steal it". if they did, it was probably "let's make it better". now, I have done that. Listen to LOTB's "Fuck Emo" and listen to the Ataris' "San Dimas High School Football Rules". we ripped them off PURPOSELY because it was satire... but it was also as common a chord progression as "Dammit" is by blink. show me an original chord progression and ill show you my penis.

srsly
