"Shut your FUCK HOLE!"

You. Are. Welcome.

I saw this band on SNL and loved them. Now they're all over commercials and my iPod. This Take Away Show-series they did in Paris just makes them that much more bad ass. Enjoy.

One of my favorite blink videos

and they had nothing to do with it. This was a typography project this kid had to do for a college class. This was the FIRST TIME HE EVER USED AFTER EFFECTS! Blew my mind. This was the first one I saw and I went to watch others to see if they were as good and they all sucked hard. I was blown away by this kid's work and hope blink pick up on it. Also, i LOVE this song. SO underrated!

Enjoy!

WTG Mark Silverman!

One of the stars of "The Undying Monsters!" is the leading Rod Serling VO talent in the world and did this for KTLA's Thanksgiving marathon. You may have also heard him while dropping into a seedy hotel in the dark side of Hollywood...

ive been waiting SO long for this doc.

This doc is ALL about the bands i grew up listening to and in this 6-minute teaser, i couldnt have said any of it better. These bands changed my entire life and for the better. I had never been more motivated by anything more than this music and these bands and "One Nine Nine Four" is a doc that has been in the works for YEARS and it looks like it's going to be coming out soon. Do yourself a favor and take a look at this and you'll soon realize why islands is my favorite restaurant and why my clothes never match -- because i am still living in 1994, and LOVING it.

Here's blink playing "Pathetic" FLAWLESSLY at the first warped tour. This sums up every summer for me from 1997 - now. i love it.

Dazzle me

from MTV news:

"Michael Jackson's moonwalk is arguably the most iconic dance move to ever hit a concert stage, but it looks like the King of Pop is hoping to one-up his signature slide — with the help of "High School Musical" director Kenny Ortega.

In preparation for his upcoming 50-show stint at London's O2 Arena, Jackson has been holed up at a warehouse near the Burbank, California, airport rehearsing with Ortega and a team of renowned choreographers, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The highly anticipated tour has been threatened by a massive lawsuit, but that hasn't stopped the pop star from planning an over-the-top, true-to-MJ-form production.

"It's going to be the biggest, most technologically advanced arena show — and the most expensive — ever mounted," Randy Phillips, chief executive of concert promotion company AEG Live, told the newspaper.

As for the top-secret sequel to the moonwalk, Phillips said he was "sworn to secrecy" but that Jackson is working closely with Ortega to deliver a memorable move everyone will be talking about.

Ortega has worked with MJ in the past, collaborating with him on his Dangerous and HIStory tours. Ortega was quick to sign on to direct the shows, even working around his commitments to the "Footloose" remake.

"My answer without a beat was nothing could keep me away," Ortega said in a statement, hailing MJ as "the greatest entertainer of our generation."

The 50-show run kicks off at the O2 Arena on July 8."

oh please. Is it just me, or is Michael Jackson fun to reminice upon... he isnt a relevant pop star anymore. the best pop star of all time? YES - hands down. does anyone care about a secret new dancemove from him thats going to one-up the moonwalk? no, sir. no thank you.

You're welcome

you know how i know YOU'RE gay?

you're suing Coldplay over the world's most simple chord progression ever. Seriously, people? Think of "Dammit" by Blink 182. I mention this as the root song as Blink is my favorite band but that chord progression has been used in almost every green day song, Blink song, Sum 41 song... think of a Pop Punk band who HASN'T used that progression. I think SONGS are copyrightable and I think LYRICS are as well, but CHORD progressions might as well be intellectual property. I didn't pay much attention to the original case against Coldplay because i couldn't care less, but now Cat Stevens "needs a quick buck" as i read in a youtube.com comment today, and i agree! a SLIGHT resemblance to a song that came out and sucked 36 years ago does not a case make.

Here's the thing... Coldplay don't NEED to copy anyone. I think they're a great band... and because of this shit, i gave "Viva la Vida..." another listen last night and it's a REALLY good record.. .which is weird because i hated it when it first came out. Anyway, stuff like this pisses me off. They are so successful, there is no reason they would sit around listening to some shitty tunes and say, "hey, you know what? I like this riff... let's steal it". if they did, it was probably "let's make it better". now, I have done that. Listen to LOTB's "Fuck Emo" and listen to the Ataris' "San Dimas High School Football Rules". we ripped them off PURPOSELY because it was satire... but it was also as common a chord progression as "Dammit" is by blink. show me an original chord progression and ill show you my penis.

Jonze vs. Lee

Today at work ,i had to do some research on this Spike Lee movie about the L.A. Riots and i thought - you know what would be an interesting conversation? A conversation between Spike Jonze and Spike Lee... Nothing in common except the fact that they are the two reigning "Spikes" in Hollywood. This made me think more -- when did I realize who was who? Jonze is so hip. But i never thought that Spike Lee and Spike Jonze were two different people. I just didn't care enough i guess until today.

So i searched the internet. SOMEONE had to put these two guys together, right? Myspace Black Carpet? NBC's Good Morning America? Conan? nothing. i couldn't even find anyone else who thought this would be a good idea... or an idea at all. am i alone on this? is this pure coffee / water cooler talk?

So in my search, i cam across THIS urban dictionary article on Spike Jonze. I go to this site all the time to look up funny pop culture words and see what people's takes are on the subject. It couldn't be more hilarious. It was not only super clever, but the NICEST urban dictionary listing i had ever seen.

i THEN had to look up Spike Lee and what entry was right below Jonze on urbandictionary.com? THIS one. Spike Lee... and it couldn't have shed the light on the subject of why these men had never been put together.

With how contrasted these two entries are, would this be an interesting conversation anymore? shit -- probably! I am surprised Lee hasn't tried suing Jonze for not only having a more bad ass and ethnic-sounding name than Lee, but for also using the "Spike" moniker. check out THIS article to read about how he tried suing Viacom over Spike TV (and apparently won?) and you'll see what i mean.

all in all -- can this conversation ever happen? can we talk to Jimmy Fallon about having a good episode where these two meet? (although i AM on board with Jimmy regarding the Saved by the Bell reunion). someone help with this. I think it is important to get these two in a room and have a chat - no?

BEST Jimmy Eat World performance. EVER.

i know im on a video kick lately, but this is SO classic. First of all, this show is blowing my mind right now. Everybody and their momma is on it. The people making this show are either high ALL the time or are a bunch of indie-kids having the best time of their lives -- or both, i guess? i dont condone drug use so ill go with the latter. Anyway, here is Jimmy Eat World performing "Beautiful Day" on "Yo Gabba Gabba!"

ANOTHER New DCFC Song!

Enjoy!

Blink - Flattery or mad?

okay -- i am going to take this as flattery becuase estevan is a much better director than i will ever be but i approached blink in December with a couple buddies to shoot THIS EXACT VIDEO (below) and i sent them MY video i did with Dave Carlock as a reference for what i wanted it to look like... here's mine, then what was just put out today:

Dave Carlock Podcast

Dave Carlock Podcast

i couldnt be MORE stoked to have seen that video they put out but i wanted to be the one to shoot it. I am WAY flattered that the video turned out to look like what i had already shot but a little bummed i wasnt able to get involved. :(

BTTF

Last night i got to see Back To The Future for the first time on the silver screen at the arclight in Sherman Oaks and i can not tell you how amazing it was. It never looked so good -- i cant wait for the blu-ray version which will come CLOSER but not quite as clear as that film print. I saw so much stuff i never noticed before... and i notice a lot of tiny details in that movie. I mean, i always see something new every time i watch it but this was different. anyway, i then went to google-image-search some BTTF images to accompany this article and came across a blog that had this music video in it. it is AMAZING -- especially for BTTF fans. enjoy!

HAHAHA I love this video

My buddy Robert and I went to CSUN together and I helped him make his reel site which is basically MY reel site with HIS videos. I am uber un-creative. anyway, he directed this while we were at CSUN and it STILL makes me laugh to this day. Some of the writing wasn't the best in the world, but this is DIRECTION i'm looking at and the talent is also uh-ma-zing. Check it out!

i LOVE this band... top 10 for sure

i have been SO into Four Year Strong and since people think theyre just too high and mighty to go to purevolume or last.fm to listen to their music, i figured i would take it upon myself to serve them some good and post their music for all of you to hear (all 4 of you). anyway, this is Four Year Strong and they've been blowing my mind for about a year. This is a demo version of their song "Bada Bing! Wit A Pipe!".

TOTALLY love this band. in my top 10 for sure.

i couldnt have said it better!

Seriously, ive been saying it since day one. Click HERE for the full story. My favorite excerpt:

"I don’t know how she does it, but Katy manages to take really big tits and a nice body and still be boring, even annoying. I’ve never seen anything like it. She’s an inspiration to boring chicks everywhere, the Michael Jordan of mediocrity. Those tits might as well be on a empty can of Coke. "

Tyler Durden FTW.

An amazing film....

NO! not watchmen -- i probably wont even see that. I'm talking, of course, about de palma's 'Phantom of the Paradise'. I have always loved this movie and never 'got' why so many people loved 'rocky horror' and had never heard of or liked 'phantom'. Better movie, better music, and - as amazing as tim curry is and will always be (especially in rocky horror), a better cast! i LOVE this movie and what got me blogging about it is my buddy robert has a new blog called aweekahead in which he reviews movies of new and old and his first review was of 'phantom' and i was SO stoked to see it get some much-deserved love, i figured i, too, would blog about it. so... blog away i did and here we are. check out his review here.

UPDATE: i just looked up phantom on imdb pro and theyre REMAKING IT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! WTF?! srsly, im not pleased. PLEASE see the original.. here's the opening scene... AMAZING!!!!!!!

My first film

A Day of Endings
Here is the first thing i ever cut on a non-linear system. I used Media 100 back at Hollywood high School in 2000 and I wouldn't change a single cut in here (except there is a rogue frame in the film i like to think i put there on purpose as as homage to "Fight Club".

anyway, i love this movie... it was written by my good friend Stephanie Carter and shot and cut by me. LOVE IT.

this post is ALSO my tests for incorporating shadowbox into this here blog so... RSS readers: bear (bare ?) with me... im working

Paul ReverSe

it has been my lot in life for the past few years to finally hear this beat forwards by playing it in reverse.... i did this a while back with "work it" by Missy Elliott but this song has been on my "to do" list since my first sidekick II and is now sitting dormant on my to do list on my BB Curve. Well, folks... 'tis time to dust off that "completed" button and show the world this illustrious beat hidden away by years and lyrics by the Beastie Boys... and boy... was it -- worth, it? (strange punctuation)

FREE!

i loves me some free shit so if you like screenwriting or need a free pre-pro suite, here it is! im still playing with it but its made a KILLER first impression!

Presidents' Day (as seen on Wikipedia, the ONLY reliable news source)

Spelling

Because Presidents Day is not the official name of the federal holiday, there is variation in how it is rendered. Both Presidents Day and Presidents' Day are today common, and both are considered correct by dictionaries and usage manuals. Presidents' Day was once the predominant style, and it is still favored by the majority of significant authorities—notably, The Chicago Manual of Style (followed by most book publishers and some magazines), The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Webster's Third International Dictionary, and Garner's Modern American Usage. In recent years, as the use of attributive nouns (nouns acting as adjectives) has become more widespread, the popularity of Presidents Day has increased.[6] This style is favored by the Associated Press Stylebook (followed by most newspapers and some magazines) and the Writer's Digest Grammar Desk Reference (ISBN 978-1582973357).

President's Day is a misspelling when used with the intention of celebrating more than one individual (see also apostrophe); however, as an alternate rendering of "Washington's birthday," or as denominating the commemoration of the presidency as a singular institution, it is a proper spelling. Indeed, this spelling was considered for use as the official federal designation by Robert McClory, a congressman from Illinois who was tasked with getting the 1968 federal holiday reorganization bill through the House Judiciary Committee. Nonetheless, while Washington's Birthday was originally established to honor George Washington, the term Presidents Day was informally coined in a deliberate attempt to use the holiday to honor multiple presidents, and is virtually always used that way today.[7] Though President's Day is sometimes seen in print[8] --even sometimes on government Web sites[9]-- this style is not endorsed by any major dictionary or usage authority.

douche

FAIL

I give up on being creative

REDEEMED

this douche finally redeemed himself... in MY book, anyway.

TRV$ Remix

This remix was recorded shortly before the september plane crash. i wish these got more airplay, i really like this one.

Backstage at the Grammys and Jeremy Lusk

first off: another amazing picture

It's interesting to see Paul Rosenberg managing blink... but according to his blog, he is managing WITH Rick DeVoe.... sounds good to me.

Also, how amazing is the new NFG record? Produced by the wax figure seen here, Mark Hoppus. SO good.

and lastly, i want to mention Jeremy Lusk. Sure, Motocross riders are douchey bros, but this guy had the gift and on the one hand, he died doing what he loved... but on the other hand, think of how scared he and his family and friends must have been to know that it was over... just like that.

what a G, bro. I hate hearing about people dying who are younger than me. That's not right.

LOTB playing?!

April 4th. CSUN. more info soon.

Celeb nooz

okay... so i hate celebs and news as much as anyone, but absolutepunk.net posted this and so i saw it.... and YES she's an idiot... but this pic is taken out of context, no? i mean, is there not an Asian IN this picture? my buddy Tac would agree... we probably have taken pics like this WITH him in them as a joke to him... that's the difference between a promotional pic and personal pics. since this pic is out in the public now, it is offensive. there are THOUSANDS of "offensive" pictures i have taken in my time... but I am not publicizing them as promotional pics for my career. I am also not Miley Cyrus, but she's 16 or whatever... most of my racy pics are from when I was 16. so what? Miley Cyrus is a stupid 16 year old, Michael Phelps smokes pot, and Christian Bale is a lunatic... is this at all surprising people? i mean... REALLY?!

anyway, this video/remix blew my mind.

my next blog is going to be about the Nielsen system and wtf THAT shits all about. who the fuck is watching NCIS... really?!

Last Night

FIRST -- you NEED to watch these ads. These ads aired at the old Lowes cinema at Citywalk when i was in high school all the way up to when they re-did them in like 2007 and turned them into AMCs. this was the hilight of my shitty-walk movie-going experience and i want to share these ads with you. I think my buddy Tomar was the only other person that thought this was aas insanely hilarious as I did... and THIS is how i fell in love with Rob Huebel.

AND

Last night, Suzi, Ryan and I accompanied Dave Brown and co. to the UCB Theatre by our house to see Rob and Paul Sheer do their "Crash Test" show (which has now been re-named "Double Diamond" because it's for professionals only!) Anyway, they were amazing and there were some funny comics, some un-funny and long-winded comics, and then there was Ed Helms (Andy Bernard from The Office). Amazing night. stupid star-struck by the cast, and a good time had by all. The last dood, a writer from Conan, was kind of not great but that almost made it funny.... maybe that was the point. I am so clueless when it comes to these things.

on another note, why isnt this stupid blogging-field auto-correcting my capitalization. I am going to start writing these blogs in Word first, then copy and pasting. GOOD NIGHT!

PS - benjamin button was awesome.

Online Reel

I have a new online reel. Let me know what you all think. Is everything spelled correctly? Do all of the links work?

I am going to make better-quality files for viewing, too. I compressed these really quickly just so I can check to see if these links were going to work, etc. It's all template-based so I am sorry for the "generic" nature of it all but I don't have the time to put into the type of site I would love to have. The newly compressed vids should be up in the next day or so. Let me know what you think!
